I Love Paris!!!

Oh what a crazy few days it's been. To start off I met my group and the airport. They are all wonderful as well as are group leader. We all made friends and were very excited to head to Paris, until our flight was delayed 2 hours. So we ended up staying in the terminal for 7 hours, not a very fun time. We finally boarded the flight to Paris which was American airlines, by far the worst. I had no space and I didn't get any sleep on the 8 hour flight. By the time we all got to Paris and took the bus to the hotel it was 10 o'clock in the morning and I hadnt slept in 27 hours. We dumped our stuff and headed out. Paris is beautiful, all the buildings are old whitish stone or plaster with ornate metal balconies. They have no skyscrapers and there at trees everywhere. The main roads are wide but when you turn down a side road they are very narrow and actually cobblestone. The whole place feels friendly and your not afraid of getting lost. We headed into the Paris metro station and I was delighted to find its just like the New York subway except the doors don't bounce off you when they close, they just keep closing so you should just wait for the next train. We went to a famous cemetery , Pere Lachaise, and I saw the graves of Oscar Wild, Gertrude Stein, Moliere, and Jim Morrison. after that we were all hungry and our group leader Sarah told us she knew a nearby cafe, half an hour later we were still walking and all complaining that this cafe was far from nearby. Then we tasted the food. We all ordered something different and the second we took our first bites, everyone started groaning at how amazingly delicious their meal was. We all passed our plates around the table trying each others dishes and did the same for dessert. By the and of the meal we were all giddy and giggling with food bliss. We all returned to the hotel in a good mood and collapsed into bed to make up on our sleep. I took lots of pictures which I will post, but I don't know if they will show up. If they don't, I'll link them to my Facebook page or send them out on an email. I'm sorry this is late.

Sincerely,

nervous, Nervous, NERVOUS!!!

I have the feeling I get right before I go on stage, my stomach is vibrating from the jumpy flock of butterflies inside it. I'm very hyper at the moment and my mother and Adam are dosing me with chamomile tea to calm me down. I'm going to Paris, I'm going to Paris!!!! Brief summary of the day. Mom and I went to breakfast with an old friend, Slim, who recently got married and wished me well on my journey. Then we went the the museum of natural history and saw their Creatures of Light exhibit. It was fun but not amazing. We also saw their dinausor fossils, and models of all the classifications of life. I took some great photos but I'm having internet problems and my photo posting still has a few glitches. I'll try to work it out as soon as possible. Anyway, then we went for tacos with Adam, who is tinkering at Tisch, and came home. Tomorrow I take of for France. I've got to take a deep breath and jump in. Sincerely, Drama Queen

Crashed

Not a very eventful day, but the most interesting entries in my blog are yet to come so these early days in New York Don't have to be the summit of my adventure. Woke up to a very hot day and went to breakfast with Mom and an old family friend, Jeff Minett. I haven't seen him since I was a baby but I was his surrogate child in a magazine photoshoot.

Mom and I wandered around union square and watched the Gay Pride Parade go by which was very colorful.

It's not a very clear picture but you can make out the rainbow flags.

After that we took refuge in a Barnes&Noble for the air conditioning and place to sit down. I nearly fell asleep at the table so Mom decided we should go back to the apartment. When we got back I flopped down on the bed and woke up five hours later. All in all, not a bad day.

Sincerely,

Drama Queen

She Adored New York.

I'm back in New York! And it sure feels good. Got in last night and set out on a mission for Italian food along with my mother and Adam (an old family friend). I stumbled back into bed at 2 in the morning and fell asleep in the sweltering heat. Woke up this morning and wandered through china town till we came to a very efficient little diner with delicious bacon. We headed down to union square and the half hour walked reminded me of how beautiful the city's architecture is.I took several photos but have just discovered that I can't post them on my blog from my iPad, so until I work that out you can visit my Facebook page to see them. I had amazingly fun walking to union square. We passed by shops that sold every manner of clothing from ridiculose teen crap to a shop full of beautiful designer Tibetan clothing that was way out of my price range. I bumped into more people than I can count and realized that jay walking is basically a law in New York. I saw the famous Strand book store. We got to union square and Adam bought some shell pease, only to have half of them taken by some chavs( loud cockney English girls). We went for sushi, frozen yogurt and finally ended up at a performance of Hamlet that was actually very good at a place called Theatre for a New City. I was glad it was a good productions because Shakespeare done by incompetent actors makes you want to tear your hair, as shown by Keanu Reeves in Much Ado About Nothing. By the time we left the theatre night had fallen and I enjoyed walking back even more because New York on a summer night is the best place in the world. The lights above the decked out Indian restraints twinkled, the hipster restaurants and bars were so packed with young drunk people that they spilled out onto the sidewalk, and the boiling temperature of the day had cooled down to a perfect warm night. Although I'm cant wait to get to France, for now, I'm happy to be balck in the New York groove. Sincerely, Drama Queen P.S. for photos of the architectur and the sushi go to http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=466998129978685&set=a.110511215627380.18365.100000055056120&type=3

Here I Go....

I leave for New York, a city I've always though of as home, tomorrow. I leave for Paris on tuesday. I'm going to France as part of a program called the Experiment. Me and 7 other teenagers spend three days in Paris exploring and getting used to the language. Then we head to Avignon in the south of France for their famous theatre festival. We stay in Avignon for 2 weeks while living with a host family and immersing ourselves in the french language. Finally we head back to Paris for a week where we develop and perform an original play all in french. I'm terrified and excited. This blog will be recounting my adventures for my friends and family back home or anyone who wants to read it. Enjoy.
